Research: Explosive volcanism, Ash formation, Magma degassing
My PhD research is focused on understanding fragmentation mechanisms in rhyolitic explosive volcanism. Through the analysis of physical and chemical characteristics of ash, including analytical and experimental analysis of ash generation, I will try to develop a mechanistic interpretation of ash formation during lava effusion eruptions. This will help constrain the ash hazard during long-lasting eruptions
